De muziek van de Amsterdamse songwriter en zangeres Pitou wordt gekarakteriseerd door haar opvallende stem en bijzondere composities, die breekbaar en sterk tegelijk aanvoelen. In haar tijdloos esthetische stijl laat Pitou haar achtergrond in klassieke muziek doorschemeren. Als kind zong ze in een professioneel kinderkoor – op zoek naar onafhankelijkheid leerde ze gitaar en begon ze haar eigen muziek te schrijven. 

In 2016 bracht ze haar eerste EP uit.

 

Deze EP ontving lovende kritieken van o.a. de Britse krant 'The Independent': 

“Amsterdam-born artist Pitou has one of the most arresting voices to emerge from this year, drawing comparisons to the likes of Laura Marling and Julia Holter, crafting intelligent folk- pop that balances the darkness and light of human emotion.”

Daarna volgde de tweede EP 'I Fall Asleep So Fast', waarop naast de gitaar ook haar nieuwe band te horen was. Guy Garvey (Elbow) sprak hierover op Radio BBC6: 

“It's not just an extraordinary vocal performance, it's the details in the lyrics. You can follow it like a conversation, despite it being very detailed. That doesn't usually happen. This has come from somewhere very instinctual. It's really stunning.” 

 

Ze speelde hierna o.a. op Best Kept Secret en Into The Great Wide Open, en tourde door Nederland, Belgie, Italie, Turkije, Frankrijk, Duitsland en Engeland.
